"Fisher, world-famous for playing Princess Leia in the blockbuster franchise, was rushed to a local hospital after suffering full cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles. Her condition, sources said, was "not good."The Los Angeles Fire Department was contacted about 10 minutes before United flight 935 landed, and she was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she was in critical condition, sources said."

You will have a heart attack before you are 50.

According to passengers She was not breathing for over 10 minutes before they landed. Safe to say she's gone.

    Update:
2:46 PM PT -- We're told when the plane landed paramedics worked on Carrie for 15 minutes with CPR before they were able to get a pulse. She's currently at UCLA Medical Center on a ventilator.

All planes should have portable cardiac defibrillators and airline personnel should be trained in their use.

It doesn't take long at all to become trained, and it's not like you can get quick hospital treatment on an airliner.

BTW, I've been trained. It's not that difficult.

P.S. If she stopped breathing for ten minutes with no heartbeat or CPR, it's unlikely there'd be no brain damage.

Doesn't say they are trained to use the automatic defibrillators. Just that doctors are "likely to be onboard."

No excuse for any untrained airline crew. Maybe they include that in "first aid training," but it's not by any definition I'm aware of. And I've had all kinds of certified training in such matters.
